If you are looking for a skiing destination, then Lyon offers a selection of truly outstanding choices which are within close proximity of the airport so you can be on the slopes in no time. Head to the skiers paradise of La Plagne, and with seemingly endless phenomenal slopes and the majority of its report being above 2000m, you are often guaranteed excellent snow reliability. Another firm favourite is the award winning Alpe d’Huez which offers visitors one of the world’s longest slopes, a lively atmosphere and is a great option if this is your first time on the slopes.

Considered the gourmet capital of France, Lyon itself has over 1500 restaurants ranging from world class Michelin star restaurants to their unique Bouchons, traditional family owned bistros serving hearty food, there is plenty of choice and the city will not to disappoint. Sample the rich French cooking, the creamy St. Marcellins cheese, and the dainty macaroons before visiting the many indoor and outdoor markets to discover even more of the superb produce the area has to offer.

Spend some time in the Presqu'île neighbourhood, the heart of the city settled between the Saone and the Rhone which is home to some beautiful architecture, picturesque town squares and the iconic Batholdi Fountain. One of its newest draws is the Confluences Museum, a science centre and anthropology museum with its extremely dramatic steel and glass architecture and interesting and interactive exhibitions has quickly become a city favourite. Complete with a zoo, botanic garden and rose garden, the Parc de la Tête d'Or is also well worth a visit to enjoy some time out from this incredible city.
