Beziers is a fantastic city for those who enjoy exploring while on holidays: marvel at the impressive architecture or perhaps visit the Musee de Beaux Arts or one of the other superb museums on offer. The city’s architectural gem, the 13th century Cathedral dominates the skyline: presenting the visitors with a great interior, the story of its history and charming ‘Bishop’s Garden’. Climb to the top of the Tower for an impressive view across the city and onto the surrounding vineyards and scenic landscape of the Languedoc region.

If you choose to venture outside Beziers, then the region has many wonders just waiting to be discovered. One of its many highlights is the Canal du Midi not only boasting its extremely impressive seven locks of Ecluses de Fonserannes but its banks are a picturesque backdrop perfect for walking or cycling. Narbonne, the first Roman city in France is also well worth a closer look with its rich heritage and the stunning 12th century abbey, the Abbaye de Fontfroide close by.

Being so close to the Mediterranean, it is unsurprising that there are numerous great coastal resorts to choose from near Beziers with the most popular being Cap D’Agde. With 14km of beaches, there is plenty of choice and you can look onto the Fort de Brescou, a former prison built on a submerged volcano. Along with its beaches, this seaside resort has countless fantastic activities for all the family with the Aquarium, Aqua Park, golf course and whale and dolphin watching to name just a few.
